Stomp Pork Farm Ltd.

On March 27, 2008, lawyers at Robertson Stromberg Pedersen LLP, including M. Kim Anderson and Sean M. Sinclair, were successful in obtaining Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act protection for their client, Stomp Pork Farm Ltd. A Plan of Arrangement was sanctioned by Justice Rothery of the Court of Queen’s Bench on September 18, 2008.

The CCAA hearing involved numerous lawyers and the interests of many creditors throughout the Province of Saskatchewan. Stomp Pork Farm Ltd. was the second largest Saskatchewan pork producer.

The Saskatchewan pork industry had been hit hard by a dramatic reduction in hog prices, along with historic increases in the price of inputs, mostly feed for the hogs.

With Justice Rothery sanctioning the Plan of Arrangement, the CCAA proceeding is essentially concluded. The CCAA proceeding involved many court applications and arguments at the Court of Queen’s Bench and a hearing at the Court of Appeal. It involved the assistance of numerous lawyers and staff at Robertson Stromberg Pedersen LLP.

The Stomp Pork Farm Ltd. CCAA proceedings followed other CCAA proceedings in which RSP was involved, including Peak Manufacturing Inc., Birsay Pork Farms Inc., Bricore Group of Companies, Kerr Interior Systems Ltd. and others.
