James Steele’s article on the latest target of data bank robbers – Canadian municipalities – appears in the August 2019 issue of Canadian Underwriter.  James speaks anecdotally of Canadian municipalities who have been hijacked by cyber criminals and advises municipal councils to carefully select the cyber policy that will best protect their taxpayers.

Kusch and Clavelle Contribute to CBA BarNotes

The most recent issue of the Canadian Bar Associations’s BarNotes contains articles by two RS lawyers.

Travis Kusch’s article “Closely Held Corporations: Avoiding the Messy Break-up”  offers practical advice to families who enter into business together.

Curtis Clavelle contributed “When Can an Employee Sue an Employer?”.  In the article he gives guidance on the scope and effect of c. 43 of The Workers’ Compensation Act.

BarNotes is published three times a year and is provided to members of CBA Saskatchewan.



Andrew Gaucher Appointed to City Appeals Boards

Andrew Gaucher has been appointed by Saskatoon City Council to a two year term on the City Mortgage Appeals Board. Appointees of this Board also serve as members of the Access Transit Appeals Board.

The City Mortgage Appeals Board hears and makes final decisions on all requests for forgiveness of City Mortgage that may arise out of the City’s Lot allocation Policy.  The Access Transit Appeals Board provides an appeal process for those who are denied access to Access Transit.

Sean Sinclair on Right to Know Panel

The Public Service Information Community Connection (PSICC) is presenting 2019 Saskatchewan Connections Conference : Access, Privacy, Security, IM, & Health Information September 26 and 27 in Saskatoon.

At the conference, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Saskatchewan is hosting a panel discussion “Right to Know : The Openness of Our Systems”.  Included on the panel is RS Media Law specialist Sean Sinclair.

This free event is open to the public and will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on September 27, and 27th, 2019.





RS listed in “Top Prairie Firms”

Canadian Lawyer magazine publishes the results of its annual survey of top prairie firms in the Fall issue.  We are happy to announce that Robertson Stromberg is again listed as a top prairie law firm.

Lawyers, in-house counsel and clients from across Canada were asked to vote on the top full-service regional firms in the Prairies.  The survey respondents’ rankings were based on the regional service coverage, client base, notable mandates, service excellence and legal expertise of the firms.

Listed alphabetically, the top Manitoba firms are Fillmore Riley LLP, MLT Aikins LLP, Pitblado LLP, Taylor McCaffrey LLP and Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP.
