Andrea L.D. Charlie

Andrea Charlie is a litigation lawyer with a wide range of legal knowledge. Her practice is focused on insurance defence and trust law including acting for and against trustees in disputes regarding powers of attorney, guardianship, and estate matters. Andrea has two decades of experience conducting civil litigation for municipal corporations and their agencies, boards, commissions and insurers.

Andrea has extensive estate litigation experience both initiating and defending estates against various forms of legal challenge. She has acted for and against executors, beneficiaries, powers of attorney, and legal guardians, including the following:

  1. Disputed estate beneficiary entitlements;
  2. Dependent’s relief claims;
  3. Claims involving the validity of Wills;
  4. Claims involving the interpretation of Wills;
  5. Claims involving the removal of executors and administrators;
  6. Challenging joint survivorship entitlements;
  7. Disputed guardianship applications; and
  8. Breach of trust actions involving powers of attorney, legal guardians and executors.

Andrea has appeared successfully in all levels of Court in Saskatchewan.

Andrea completed her Juris Doctor of Law at Queen’s University in 2001. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Calgary (B.Arts. 1998).

Andrea was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002 and the Saskatchewan Bar in 2014.

Andrea is the Chair of the Canadian Bar Association – Saskatchewan’s Wills, Estates and Elder Law Section and sits on the Canadian Bar Association’s Well-Being Subcommittee dealing with issues affecting lawyers’ health and well-being.

She is also an Associate Member of the Canadian Chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”)

Andrea sits on the Board of Directors for Prairie Hospice Society that works to ensure compassionate, community-based end of life support in Saskatoon.  

In addition, she serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas Inc. helping to protect and preserve Saskatoon’s green spaces.
