Jennifer Pereira is appointed to the Board of the Canadian Museum of History

On March 20, 2018 the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced the appointment of 19 part-time members to the board of trustees of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Canadian Museum of History, the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.

Among the trustees appointed to the Canadian Museum of History is Jennifer Pereira who is appointed for a four-year term effective March 12, 2018. Jenn has sat on the boards of a number of organizations, is a member of the Children’s Discovery Museum, and is chair of the Fund Development Cabinet for the Persephone Theatre in Saskatoon.

The Canadian Museum of History, formerly the Canadian Museum of Civilization, is Canada’s national museum of human history. It is located in the Hull area of Gatineau, Quebec, directly across the Ottawa River from Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. The museum’s primary purpose is to collect, study, preserve, and present material objects that illuminate the human history of Canada and the cultural diversity of its people.

Correcting Mistakes in Wills

James Steele has contributed an article to the Estate Law Canada blog, a widely-read Canadian estate litigation blog, with over 6 million views. James wrote on the issue of fixing Wills, when erroneous wording is drafted by mistake. The piece can be read here.

James Steele Contributes to Legal Sourcery Blog

James Steele has published a case comment on Legal Sourcery, the award-winning legal blog of the Law Society of Saskatchewan Library.  The post discusses the recent Supreme Court of Canada decision in Valard Construction Ltd. v Bird Construction Co. (2018 SCC 8), a decision finding that a trustee can owe a duty to disclose the existence of a trust to its beneficiaries.  The piece can be read here.

Pereira and Sinclair are Benchmark Litigation Future Stars

Benchmark Canada is about to release its 6th edition of Benchmark Canada, the Guide to Canada’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys.  Benchmark recognizes “up-and-coming legal practitioners who produce the highest quality of work in their respective fields of litigation”.  This award is called “Future Star” and has been awarded to both Jennifer Pereira and Sean Sinclair.
