Leslie W. Prosser, K.C.

Les is a former managing partner of Robertson Stromberg LLP and is a senior member of the corporate/commercial group in Saskatoon.

With years of experience and a record of countless successful files, Les represents large and small businesses in all aspects of commercial law, with particular expertise in corporate acquisitions, mergers and re-structuring, all manner of commercial and secured financing transactions. He also handles personal, estate and succession planning matters.

A graduate of Queen’s University, Les received a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in 1970 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1974. He was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1975.

Les is also a graduate of the Directors Education Program, having received his ICD.D designation in March 2016.

Throughout his career, Les has been very involved in his professional organizations, both enhancing his own knowledge and contributing to the profession at large. He served several years as a Bencher to the Law Society of Saskatchewan (1988-1993), was President of the Law Society in 1992 and was Saskatchewan delegate to the Federation of Law Societies; he has served on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association’s Saskatchewan Branch, was National Chair of Real Property with the Canadian Bar Association, and served as President of the Saskatoon Bar Association. Les has been a sessional lecturer in business law and real property in the University of Saskatchewan Colleges of Commerce and Law. He served as Vice-Chair of the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission 1998-2001. In 2017, Les was appointed as the chair of the Provincial Court Judges’ Compensation Commission which completed its mandate at the end of that year. In 2018, Les served as chair and sole member of the Justices of the Peace Compensation Commission. He is also a former member of the Federal Judiciary Advisory Committee for Saskatchewan.

Les has offered his time and expertise to the boards of directors of several charitable and non-profit organizations in Saskatoon, among them the YMCA of Saskatoon, including a term as President; the Granite Curling Club, including a term as President; Meewasin United Church, Saskatoon Girls Group Home, Riverside Golf & Country Club and the Loon Lake Golf and Country Club. He has also volunteered with United Way of Saskatoon.

Les recently completed his term on the Board for the Saskatoon Airport Authority, having also served as its Chair. He currently sits on board of the CJWW Denny Carr Secret Santa Foundation Inc. He previously served as Secretary to the board of directors of the Global Institute for Food Security at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2017, Les was honoured by the Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Branch, with its Community Service Award for outstanding dedication, service, and commitment to the Community.

Privatization of numerous Saskatchewan Crown corporations including Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Mining and Development Corporation (subsequently Cameco Corporation), and the Meadow Lake Sawmill.

Counsel to Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. and Cameco Corporation in relation to their respective initial public offering of shares upon privatization.

Acquisition by Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. of Potash Company of America, Division of Rio Algom Limited.

Counsel to Great Western Diamonds Group in its acquisition of the Rondonia Diamond Project (Brazil) from Santa Elina Mines Corporation.

Counsel to Meadow Lake Tribal Council in respect of the reorganization and acquisition of NorSask Forest Products Limited Partnership.

Counsel to Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. in its acquisition of mining rights and related unitization of such rights for its expanded mining operations near Rocanville, Saskatchewan.
